More about this plant

A redbud selected for flower colour rather than form, usually grown as a single trunk tree to about 15 to 25 feet tall and as wide. Masses of clear pink pea-like flowers cover the bare branches for two to three weeks in early spring, and the purple cast found in most redbuds is absent, which is what sets this clone apart. Broad dark green heart-shaped leaves follow and turn a vibrant yellow in fall, with flat brown seedpods through summer and autumn. It grows in sun or partial shade on clay, loam or sand across a wide pH band with good drainage, tolerates black walnut and deer, and feeds bees, butterflies and specialized bees. Use it as a specimen, a border tree or an understory tree at a woodland edge.
