More about this plant
Firepower nandina is a dwarf, rounded evergreen selection grown entirely for its foliage. The soft, finely divided leaves are lime green through the growing season and turn brilliant red as cold weather arrives, holding that colour through winter. It is a slow grower, reaching only about 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, and it does not flower or fruit, so it neither berries nor self sows. It takes sun to shade, tolerates clay, loam or sand at almost any pH once drainage is adequate, and is deer and drought resistant. Use it as a low accent, a mass planting, a container plant or a tidy foundation shrub. All parts are poisonous if eaten.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 3 ft tall and 3 ft wide
- Blooms in spring
- Hardy in USDA zones 6-9
