More about this plant
A compact bluebeard about 2 to 2.5 feet tall and wide with extremely dark glossy green aromatic foliage and rich blue flowers carried in axillary cymes from late summer into early fall, when little else is in bloom. The flowers draw bees, butterflies and hummingbirds, and the plant is deer resistant. It needs full sun and very well drained soil, since soggy ground in cold weather causes root rot, and it should be cut back each spring to keep it dense. Use it in borders, mass plantings and among perennials.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 2.5 ft tall and 2.5 ft wide
- Blooms in summer, fall
- Hardy in USDA zones 5a-9b
- Deciduous foliage
