More about this plant
Golden Spirit is an award winning smoketree grown for golden yellow foliage held across three seasons, turning red in fall. It makes an erect, multi stemmed, spreading shrub or small tree of 8 to 15 feet each way, and can be trained to a single trunk. It was bred not to flower, though small yellow flowers are sometimes seen in spring followed by the smoky panicles the species is known for. It takes full sun to partial shade, clay through shallow rocky soil at any pH, and good drainage, and resists deer, drought, heat, disease and insect pests. Use it as an accent, border, informal hedge or container specimen. The resinous sap can cause contact dermatitis.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 15 ft tall and 15 ft wide
- Blooms in spring, summer
- Hardy in USDA zones 5-8
