More about this plant

Golden Charm is a cultivar of Chamaecyparis, a scale and needle leaved evergreen conifer in the cypress family. Sawara false cypress, the species this cultivar is generally assigned to, carries small leaves held in horizontal planes, bright green with a silvery line underneath, with reddish brown bark that peels off in thin strips and small green cones that ripen brown. It is low maintenance and grows in full sun to partial shade in soil that is moist but well drained, tolerating acid through alkaline conditions, and is hardy from zone 4 through zone 8. False cypress is used for borders, foundation plantings, screening and specimen planting, tolerates drought once established, and can be troubled by bagworms, root rot and juniper blight.
