More about this plant
Don's Dwarf is a compact, dense selection of the native southern wax myrtle, holding to roughly 3 to 5 feet tall and 4 to 6 feet across instead of the 15 to 20 foot species. The leaves are smaller, olive green and aromatic when crushed, and the cultivar carries noticeably better resistance to the leaf spot that disfigures ordinary wax myrtle. Flowers are inconspicuous in early spring. It keeps the species toughness, taking sun or part shade, sand or clay, salt spray, drought once established and occasional wet feet, while staying at a size that needs no shearing. Useful as a low informal hedge, a massed evergreen filler, a foundation shrub under windows or a parking island planting.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 5 ft tall and 6 ft wide
- Blooms in spring
- Hardy in USDA zones 7-11
