More about this plant
Yoshino is a large form of Japanese cedar maturing at 30 to 40 feet tall by 20 to 30 feet wide, described by Clemson as an excellent replacement for the problematic Leyland cypress. Short glossy blue green needles are spirally arranged for a foxtail effect, bronzing somewhat in winter, and the reddish brown bark peels off in long showy strips. It wants organically rich, moist, acidic and well drained soil in full sun to some partial shade, with good air circulation and shelter from high winds. Maintenance is low and it is deer and rabbit resistant, making it a durable evergreen screen or specimen.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 40 ft tall and 30 ft wide
- Hardy in USDA zones 5-9
