More about this plant
Victory is a late fruiting firethorn carrying tight corymbs of small white flowers in spring and early summer, followed by orange-red berries that mature in autumn and hold on the arching, thorny branches through winter for the birds. The glossy dark green foliage is evergreen to semi-evergreen and the shrub grows rapidly, sometimes more than two feet a year. Give it full sun and a well drained clay, loam or sandy soil; it tolerates hot dry conditions, is moderately salt tolerant and is deer resistant. Use it as a hedge, screen, bank cover or espalier, keeping it clear of walkways because the stems carry sharp spines.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 12 ft tall and 12 ft wide
- Blooms in spring, summer
- Hardy in USDA zones 6-9
- Evergreen foliage
