More about this plant
A dwarf oakleaf hydrangea of roughly 3 to 4 feet tall and wide with deeply lobed, oak like leaves. Cone shaped flower clusters open greenish white and age to pink, and the foliage turns bright orange to scarlet in fall while the stems exfoliate to show cinnamon brown bark. It takes full sun through partial shade with regular water in well drained, organically rich soil. Its small size suits a foundation bed, a shaded border or a woodland edge, and the flowers draw butterflies and other insects while songbirds eat the seeds.
