More about this plant
A large oakleaf hydrangea reaching close to 10 feet tall and even wider, carrying white clusters of flowers above bold foliage shaped like oak leaves. The blooms open in summer and fade to soft pink as they age, and the leaves turn bronze to purple and red in fall so the autumn display nearly matches the flowering one. It prefers part shade to part sun with three to six hours of direct sun and average, regular watering in well drained, organically rich soil. Its size suits privacy borders, weed suppressing mass plantings and featured specimen use, and the flowers draw butterflies while songbirds eat the seeds.
- Part Shade
- Grows to 10 ft tall and 12 ft wide
- Blooms in summer
- Hardy in USDA zones 5-9
- Deciduous foliage
- Native plant
