More about this plant

Hoskin's Shadow is a selection of yaupon holly, a fine textured broadleaf evergreen native to the southeastern United States, with glossy leathery green leaves about an inch and a half long, purple young stems that age to gray, and thin smooth almost white bark. Small greenish white flowers open in spring on separate male and female plants, and female plants carry clusters of quarter inch red drupes that mature in fall and persist into winter for songbirds and small mammals. Yaupon tolerates drought, salt spray, flooding, wind and heavy pruning and grows in sun or shade on nearly any soil, making it a dependable hedge, screen or specimen.
