More about this plant
Dwarf Burford is a compact evergreen shrub reaching 6 to 8 feet tall and wide, resembling Burfordii but smaller and denser. Its glossy leathery elliptic to oblong leaves carry a single spine at the tip, and fragrant but inconspicuous white flowers open in May. It is a parthenocarpic female clone, so it sets great quantities of bright red globose berries without a pollinator and holds them through winter for birds. Grow it in full sun to partial shade on well drained acid to neutral soil; it resists deer, drought and heat. Use it as an accent, barrier, foundation shrub, hedge or screen.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 8 ft tall and 8 ft wide
- Blooms in spring
- Hardy in USDA zones 7-9
- Evergreen foliage
