More about this plant
Ellen Huff is an oakleaf hydrangea grown for unusually large, deeply lobed oak like leaves, up to about 12 inches long, that turn red, orange and burgundy in fall. Big white panicles roughly 8 to 12 inches long open in early to mid summer and age slowly to soft pink and tan, and the older branches exfoliate to show cinnamon coloured bark for winter. It forms a broad, upright rounded shrub around 5 to 8 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide, takes full sun to part shade on rich, well drained soil, and suits a woodland edge, a shaded border or a mass planting.
