More about this plant
Dwarf mugo pine is a slow growing, dense, spreading evergreen conifer that stays low, reaching about 3 to 5 feet tall and 6 to 10 feet wide in ten years, far smaller than the 20 to 25 foot species. Its dark green needles are firm, rigid and finely toothed, 1 to 3 inches long and clustered in pairs, on compact branches with candle like new growth; dark brown female cones 1 to 2.5 inches long ripen in fall. It wants full sun and a well drained soil, tolerates a wide pH range, and resists deer, rabbits, drought, salt and pollution. Use it in a rock garden, a mixed planting, along a walkway or as a container specimen.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 5 ft tall and 10 ft wide
