More about this plant
A seedless male red maple selection with a symmetrically oval crown, reaching 35 to 50 feet tall and 25 to 40 feet wide. Its fall colour begins red and turns purple red, and it holds that colour longer than most red maples. Small red flowers open in short drooping clusters in late winter before the leaves and give bees an early nectar source. It grows fast in full sun to partial shade in moist, slightly acidic, fertile soil, tolerates compaction, drought, heat, pollution and wet soil, and makes a reliable shade or street tree.
