More about this plant

A very large, fast growing weeping willow with an open, rounded crown and long pendulous branches. The narrow lanceolate leaves are green above and gray silver beneath and turn gold in fall, and yellow brown male catkins appear with shorter green female spikes in spring. It takes clay, loam or sand across the whole pH range and tolerates wet ground, erosion, deer and black walnut, but it is a high maintenance tree with weak wood and frequent insect and disease problems. Site it in meadows, naturalized ground or alongside ponds and streams where its size and litter are not a nuisance.

  • Full Sun
  • Grows to 75 ft tall and 75 ft wide
  • Blooms in spring
  • Hardy in USDA zones 4-8
  • Deciduous foliage
