More about this plant

A vigorous Freeman maple, a hybrid of red maple and silver maple, forming a dense, erect, oval crown of 45 to 70 feet tall and 35 to 50 feet wide. The deeply cut five lobed leaves turn a good orange red in fall, and dense red flower clusters open at the branch ends in April before the foliage. It takes full sun to partial shade in clay, loam or sand, tolerates both drought and wet soil, and has no serious problems, although leafhoppers, borers and scale can affect immature trees. Its speed and clean habit make it a standard shade and street tree.
