More about this plant

A compact, upright Southern magnolia reaching about 20 feet tall and 12 feet wide, dense enough to work as a narrow evergreen screen or a small specimen tree. The thick leathery leaves are glossy dark green above with reddish brown felted undersides, and fragrant white flowers six to eight inches across open in late spring and continue sporadically through summer. It holds its compact habit best in full sun, and takes moist, well drained soil over a wide pH range. Suited to foundation beds, patios and other places where a full size magnolia would outgrow the space.
