More about this plant
An upright deciduous shrub about four to five feet each way, grown as much for its rich dark purple foliage as for its flowers. Rosy pink trumpet like blooms cover it in late spring and rebloom sporadically through summer, and the contrast against the glossy dark leaves carries season long color. It wants full sun, well drained soil and average moisture, resists deer, and draws butterflies and hummingbirds. Prune immediately after flowering. Use it as a specimen, in shrub borders, in mass plantings, in containers or for cutting.
- Full Sun
- Grows to 5 ft tall and 5 ft wide
- Blooms in spring, summer
- Hardy in USDA zones 4-8
- Deciduous foliage
