More about this plant
A cold hardy camellia hybrid raised by Dr. William Ackerman, growing moderately and upright to around 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide. Shell pink semi double to peony form flowers 3 to 5 inches across open from late winter into spring, and occasionally start as early as November, over a long flowering period. The dark green evergreen leaves tolerate winter sun well and set the large blooms off nicely. It is rated for zones 6b through 9 and takes partial shade, and like other camellias it wants well drained soil rich in organic matter on the acid side. The branches are good for cutting and the plant suits borders, foundation plantings and winter containers.
