More about this plant
A Satsuki hybrid azalea from Japan and a dwarf of the group, a dense, low spreading evergreen shrub seldom over 2 feet high and 3 feet wide. It blooms late, in late May and June after most azaleas have finished, carrying soft pink single flowers with ruffled edges about 2.5 to 3 inches across that look much larger than the small leaves would suggest. It needs an acid, moist but well drained medium at a pH of about 5.2 to 6.0 and is rated for zone 7 and south. Its low dense form suits borders, beds, foundation plantings, mass plantings and woodland or shade gardens, and it takes shearing and bonsai training well.
- Part Shade
- Grows to 2 ft tall and 3 ft wide
- Blooms in spring, summer
- Hardy in USDA zones 7-9
- Evergreen foliage
