More about this plant

An upright, full and well branched Encore azalea about 4.5 feet tall and 4 feet wide with an architectural habit that gives natural structure to borders and accent plantings. The single flowers are large, about 3.5 inches across, in a deep velvety purple that reads from a distance, opening strongly in spring and repeating through summer and fall over deep green glossy evergreen leaves. It prefers 4 to 6 hours of direct sun, with morning sun and afternoon shade ideal in hotter or reflective sites, and acid soil around pH 5 to 6 that is well drained and evenly moist. Mulch 2 to 3 inches; once established it tolerates drought, and it needs only shaping after the spring bloom.
